With six of the nine Academy Award nominees for Best Picture based on books, it seems Oscar is leaning toward the literary. Book adaptations of movies often create a resurgence of interest in the title, and perhaps some controversy among book lovers about whether the adaptation did the book justice. Do you find yourself drawn to historical fiction? If so, is there a particular place or time period you find yourself visiting often?

I like a lot of different historical fiction, but I'm particularly drawn to the early 20th century. There is something fascinating to me about the lives of people just a couple generations away -- close enough that I could know them, but distant enough that it still a little exotic.
