Scott Newell had to win three matches to climb the ladder and win the title, but he did it (even if his last two wins were as narrow as can be). After defeating Dom Barrett in the first match, Newell edged Rhino Page by a single pin before winning the championship over Ryan Ciminelli by two pins.

Barrett's First Career Title Comes in Scorpion Open

Dom Barrett, the top seed through qualifying of the Scorpion Open, remained the top bowler through the finals, defeating Sean Rash 247-204 to win the title. In each of the first two rounds, Rash rolled the top score while Barrett followed closely behind, but with the title on the line, Barrett opened with five strikes in a row to put Rash away.

Mike Fagan Wins First Career Major Title

Mike Fagan had only one loss through match-play qualifying, and that was in the winners'-bracket final against Chris Barnes. The loss gave Fagan the number-two seed in today's stepladder finals.

In order to earn a rematch with Barnes in the finals, Fagan first had to defeat Bryon Smith, who took out Dan MacLelland in the first match. Despite struggling with the 10 pin against Smith, Fagan was able to get by and face Barnes, where once again he struggled with the 10 pin early while Barnes built a big lead.

Sunday: USBC Masters Live Finals

McCune Wins Second Consecutive Cheetah Championship
