Randy Pedersen Wins PBA50 Dayton Classic

Randy Pedersen made his PBA50 debut with a less-than-auspicious 144 in his first game. The only reason that's notable is because of how he finished: as the champion.

Pedersen qualified third for the stepladder finals and defeated Mike Edwards in the first match. From there, he eliminated Bob Learn, Jr. to earn the right to face always-in-the-lead Amleto Monacelli. In a game that unsurprisingly came down to the 10th frame, Pedersen came out ahead, 232-226.

PBA50 Season Keeps Moving

It seems as if it just began, but we're now already four events into the 2013 PBA50 season and four different bowlers have captured titles.

Bob Learn, Jr., Walter Ray Williams, Jr., Tom Baker and Lennie Boresch, Jr. all claimed a title in the first four events and will be looking for more, as will their fellow competitors, as the season continues.

Tomorrow, May 1, Terrell Owens will make his USBC Open debut, and BowlTV will be there to stream in live. Owens, the former NFL star who is gaining bowling fame as celebrity owner of the Dallas Strikers, will be bowling at 10 p.m. ET at the National Bowling Stadium in Reno. Joining Owens are teammates Ed Baur, PBA commissioner Tom Clark and Xtra Frame personalities Mike J. Laneside and Jason Thomas.

Monacelli Takes Early Lead in PBA50 Greater Birmingham Open

It's at the point now we can simply assume Amleto Monacelli's name will be at the top of the list of qualifiers during the PBA50 season. Granted, it's only one block into this event, and only one squad has bowled, but after leading the PBA50 Pasco County Suncoast Open and the PBA50 Sun Bowl in the Villages, it's beginning to seem automatic.
