Hot on the heels of DreamWorks' plans to remake Rebecca comes the news that Paramount Pictures is mounting a remake of Alfred Hitchcock's 1941 classic, Suspicion, which also starred Joan Fontaine. Fontaine, who won the Oscar for Best Actress, was the only Hitchcock performer to ever take home an Academy Award.

Lyricist Dory Previn Dies at 86

Oscar-nominated composer and lyricist, Dory Previn, died yesterday, Feb. 14, 2012, in her Southfield, MA home. She was 86 years old.

She was born Dorothy Veronica Langan on Oct. 25, 1925 in Woodbridge, NJ, where she grew up under difficult circumstances. Her father, who was gassed during World War I, was convinced that he was sterile and therefore Previn could not be his daughter. The emotional scars from his rejection left her vulnerable and wounded, and would later inform her work.

Remake Fever Strikes Again

Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse, Hollywood has decided that Alfred Hitchcock's classic, Rebecca, is in dire need of a remake.

Currently, the new adaptation of Daphne DuMaurier's popular 1938 novel has been set up at DreamWorks by Working Title Films, with Steven Knight (Shutter Island) writing the script, and Tim Beven and Eric Fellner (both from Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy) set to produce.

On This Day: James Dean Would Have Been 81

He was born on Feb. 8, 1931 and died just 24 years later. His career was all too brief, but his legend has been one of Hollywood's most enduring.

James Dean was a promising young actor who rose to stardom off the strength of his first leading performance in Elia Kazan's adaptation of John Steinbeck's East of Eden. He starred in two more films, Rebel Without a Cause and Giant, but never saw either one released during his lifetime.
