Last week after the release of government findings concerning lead in lipstick, many of us across the world scrambled to see how much lead was in our favorites. This encouraged me to look for makeup and beauty lines that never use lead in any of their products. To kick off my search I'm going to start with 100% Pure. Some of you may have seen various products in fashion magazines, or their Coffee Bean Eye Cream on Doctor Oz earlier this month. Lead Caution: Check Your Lips

So we've heard about lead in our lipstick and makeup products in the past, but the latest research from the FDA gives us more details. Even though the levels are supposedly not enough to be concerned with, I believe that the decision should be up to the people that wear the lipstick daily; multiple times a day. Personally I don't think it's a huge ordeal, unless you use the top lead-laden lipstick (Maybelline's Color Sensational in Pink Petal) since it contains around 7.19 lead parts per million (ppm)*. If you use this multiple times throughout the day then it can begin to add up, especially with other acceptable amounts of lead exposure in other products and goods. To put this into perspective the FDA only allows 0.1 ppm in candy, but they proclaim that it is not an even comparison since you directly ingest candy and you don't directly ingest lipstick (especially in the same amount)*.

Our Latest Review: Kaplan MD Lip 20 Treatment Gloss

After testing and reviewing Kaplan MD's Lip 20 lipstick we had to give their lip gloss a try. Personally I'm a sucker for lip gloss, normally, but there's something a little different about their lip gloss. Let's just say that it has its pros and cons, just like many makeup products. I suppose the real question is whether it's actually worth the hefty price of $30. The holidays are long gone, and now it's that time of the year for weight loss and exercise. We're all feeling bad for eating 10 pounds of fudge and 20 pounds of cookies, on top of all of the dinners and party foods so now is the time to hit the gym and lose all of those extra pounds. I know, the better plan is not to indulge in all of that fatty food, but we're all human and it tends to go with the season. And besides, at least you've decided to turn healthy and exercise, right? Finally a True Hue Blush

Finding a good shade of blush can be tiring, and the amount of money you spend through trial and error really starts to add up fast. After years I finally found an affordable blush from CoverGirl, but alas the color was discontinued. So the search was on once again, all while trying to scrape every last bit of my favorite CG blush from its container. Well thanks to Buxom I can now rest easy. Their True Hue Blush comes in a variety of colors and texture, and really is true to color and then some. Buxom actually added an extra special "kick" to the new line, which makes it even better!
