For the 84th Academy Awards on February 26th, the red carpet will roll out all across the country, including Oklahoma City. As part of the Oscar Night America event, nearly 50 cities will host their own glamorous fund-raising watch parties. Presented by the Ronald McDonald House of OKC Young Professionals, the metro's Oscar affair will benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities of OKC, an organization that provides a "home away from home" for families of seriously ill or injured children receiving treatment in Oklahoma City.

Dave & Buster's OKC

A few weeks ago, I wrote about the grand opening of Oklahoma City's own Dave & Buster's. Located at May Avenue and Northwest Expressway, the 23,805 square foot facility is pretty impressive, featuring dining area, bar, party rooms and of course the many games. In that post, I mentioned that I had never been to a Dave & Buster's, my only knowledge coming from word of mouth and television commercials.

Frontier City to Add Water Attraction

Things are going to be a lot cooler this summer at Oklahoma City's Frontier City amusement park. Premier Attractions Management, the park's operators, announced yesterday the addition of a new water attraction set to be ready by May of 2012. Teased for several weeks now, the offering is a unique way for the longtime OKC attraction to spice things up a bit.

Natural Food Stores to Open in Edmond

With the additions of Whole Foods, Sunflower Farmers Market and others, it is an exciting time for Oklahoma City shoppers looking for quality organic and specialty foods. Now, the community of Edmond is getting in on the act, with two natural food stores to open in the next couple of months. High school students interested in government can apply for a unique opportunity with the the city. Open to public, private, and homeschooled students who will be juniors or seniors during the 2012-2013 school year, the Oklahoma City Youth Council gives members a chance to see local government up close, tackling youth issues through meetings, seminars and more. The nine-month program begins in August, and the city is taking applications through April 6th.
