Paintball Teams

Paintball is a team sport. It's all about spending time together and working towards a common goal. While there are good times to be had while playing with the same people every week, the same camaraderie can be had with the people you meet up with on the local field. Even better, spend a little time and strategize with your team before you play. This team interaction will make the team that much better.

Practice, Practice, Practice

This means that you have to improve your individual skills and your team skills. You have to know your capabilities and your limitations. Paintball Batteries

Twenty years ago, nobody would have thought about batteries when they decided it was time to play paintball. They just popped on a 12 gram CO2 tank and headed out to play. Now, though, basic maintenance typically requires changing your batteries, and not just for high-end guns. If you want to stay on the field, make sure you have extra batteries in your bag.

Paintball equipment is not a good investment. Some things appreciate with age, such as many houses, classic cars and baseball cards. Paintball is not one of them. Paintball equipment crashes in value as soon as you get it and then, if you wait a while, it depreciates even more over the course of the first year. Since new equipment is rarely significantly better than the previous year's model, I highly recommend purchasing used gear. You will get gear that will work phenomenally well and will save you an arm and a leg.

Saving Money With Paintball

Between field fees, paintballs and air, it's easy to drop over $100 for a day of paintball. If you add in the cost of equipment, clothing and other gear, the price of paintball increases substantially with time. Because of the high prices, many people simply leave the sport, but that's not the only option. If you are careful, selective and pay attention to how you play, there are many options for saving money. Simply cutting back on paintballs is a great start but you can also reduce costs by being selective with where you play and the events you go to. Even equipment, from guns to shoes, can be saved on if you look for used gear. While it's fun to always go to every tournament and have the best gear, spending yourself out of the sport is not what you want to happen.

Paintball and Animals

I have answered a number of odd questions through the years relating to paintball, but responding to how animals are involved with the sport is definitely one of the more difficult ones. My initial reaction is that paintball and animals never go together, but that's not quite true. Paintball and animals shouldn't intentionally go together, but sometimes, whether from pests, animals on the field, or occasionally even marking livestock, paintball does involve animals. Paintball is not a game for you and your pet to enjoy together, so leave your dog at home when you go to play, but be aware that sometimes animals do cross paths with paintball.

A Simple Fix

It's a simple secret, but one that many beginner's don't know - paintball guns need to be cleaned. I have dealt with many beginner paintball guns that have had issues from not firing to air leaks to chopping paint. While some do require extensive work and replacement parts, but the majority don't have any major issues - they just need to be stripped down and cleaned out. When you remove the grime of past games add a fresh coat of gun oil and maybe replace a few o-rings, broken paintball guns are amazingly brought back to life.

It's Getting Cold

Cold weather paintball is not the most common type of the sport, but this time of year, it's all that most of us are left to play. While many people are oiling their guns for the winter, there's still time to clean your gun, stretch out and get out and play. Just because it's cold doesn't mean you can't play.

Paintball Parents
