Fall into Winter at the Michael Kors Fashion Week Runway Show

It's no secret that I'm not a big fan of the Michael Kors collection for spring 2012 because I thought it looked more like a fall collection than a spring fashion line. Now that I've looked at his fall collection, I think he's advanced directly to winter.The fall line for 2012 presented by Michael Kors a few days ago during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week was heavy on the cold-weather duds, and there are also some dresses that would work very well for winter holiday parties. So it's fall into winter at Michael Kors this year with all kinds of bulky clothing that petites would do well to avoid. Even so, there are other--quite wearable--ensembles that were presented at the show, so it's definitely worth a look.

Max Azria Presents BCBG for Fall at Fashion Week

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week is in full swing now in New York, and one of the first designers showing a fall collection was Max Azria with his BCBG line, which he designs jointly with his wife Lubov. There were references to styles that we've seen in past collections from BCBG, such as transparent panels, as well as a couple of trends that seem to be carrying over from spring to fall 2012.

SAG award winner and petite actress Octavia Spencer walked the red carpet at SAG 2012 in a Tadashi Shoji gown from the designer's spring collection. Octavia Spencer's gown was on trend with others as we saw many more gowns with short sleeves this year than in past years, and its dove gray color was also on trend with lots of light neutrals on the red carpet.
