Okay, so doing your taxes is probably the last thing you want to think about on the first day after a long weekend, but this is just a little reminder that midnight February 29th, 2012 is the deadline to contribute to your RRSP and still be able to claim the deduction on your 2011 personal taxes. And this is also a reminder that February 29th is just a week and a day away.

Things to Do in Toronto this Weekend: Friday February 17th to Monday February 20th, 2012

The big deal this weekend is Family Day on Monday which - not surprisingly - will see plenty of family-themed events on all weekend long across the city. If you're looking for something to do with kids or teens, check the big Family Day event listing for all kinds of options.

The annual Rhubarb Festival is on now at Buddies in Bad Times Theatre and will continue until February 19th.

The roots and blues music festival Winterfolk is on from Friday to Monday at several locations around the city.

The Canadian International Auto Show is on at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre beginning on Friday and continuing until February 26th.

And the Spring Fishing and Boat Show is on the International Centre in Mississauga from Friday to Monday.

The Toronto Rock have a home game on Saturday and the theme for this lacrosse game is "Girls Night Out".

The Marlies are also home this weekend, with games at the Ricoh Coliseum on Friday, Saturday and Monday.

This is the Bell Free Weekend at the TIFF Bell Lightbox with all film screenings free on Saturday and Sunday.

The current show from the Model Railroad Club of Toronto continues on Sunday and Monday in Liberty Village.

- On Saturday the Kingsway BIA presents the first "Family Day on The Kingsway" event.
- On Saturday night Jory Nash will play an evening fundraiser to benefit Lake Scugog Camp for underprivileged and marginalized kids.

- On Monday the "All for the LOVE of Music" benefit concert will help support MusiCounts, a music education charity.
- A "Fondue Feastival" continues at The Bier Markt.

Things to Do in Toronto this Weekend: Friday February 10th - Sunday February 12th, 2012

With Valentine's Day on Tuesday, there are many Valentine's Day themed events on this weekend.

Black History Month events also continue at various locations around the city.

This Friday is Tokens 4 Change, an annual fundraiser supporting the Etobicoke shelter for homeless youth, Youth Without Shelter. Students will be out in many TTC stations performing and collecting tokens and change to help their peers, so watch for them during your morning commute!

The Canadian Motorsports Expo is on at the International Centre in Mississauga from Friday to Sunday.

The Harlem Globetrotters are at the Rogers Centre on Saturday and Sunday.

Carnival China 2012 celebrates the Chinese New Year at the Sony Centre on Saturday.

This Saturday's DJ Skate Night at Harbourfront Centre will be a "Reggae Revolution".

Beyond Black History Month events and Valentine's Day events, there are still other special events on the city's historic museums, especially Family FUNday programming at most locations and a Musical Matinee at Montgomery's Inn on Sunday.

The Model Railroad Club of Toronto begins a new run of public shows on Sunday.

Moordale Concerts have another family-friendly "Music & Truffles" event on Sunday afternoon, this time exploring Beethoven's music and life.

Sunday also brings the family-friendly band The Monkey Bunch to the Drake for the second of three Sunday shows in a row.

Outside the city, the Coburg Winter Festival continues on Saturday.

Well, it's Groundhog Day and according to the CBC there's been some cross-border disagreement. Apparently Ontario's Wiarton Willie and Nova Scotia's Shubenacadie Sam both predicted an early spring, but Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow in Pennsylvania, signalling six more weeks of winter.

February 2nd is Groundhog Day

Tomorrow is Groundhog Day, and frankly, there usually isn't too much to say about that until after those furry forecasters have made their predictions. But there's a new event for 2012 - the City of Mississauga is hosting an outdoor marathon of the movie Groundhog Day in Celebration Square. And of course there's still time to make the trip to an actual Groundhog Day festival to see a celebrity Marmota monax in person, or for parents and teachers to plan some Groundhog Day activities.
