In its fiscal year 2013 budget request, the Veterans Administration (VA) says that about 60% of claims for benefits filed by veterans take more than 125 days to process. Many veterans say it often actually takes much longer than 125 days. Maybe the $2.164 billion the VA is requesting for improved benefits processing will help.

Robots May Soon March Beside US Soldiers

In order to deal with a multitude of modern battlefield locations and situations, U.S. soldiers are typically weighed down by more than 100 pound of essential gear. To help them out, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) is now field-testing a robotic "pack mule" capable of walking beside the troops carrying up to 400 pounds of gear while obeying verbal commands.

NPS to Fix King Memorial 'Drum Major' Quote

Etched into stone at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial is a phrase attributed to one of Dr. King's sermons that reads "I was a drum major for justice, peace and righteousness." Problem is, that's not what the man said. Now the National Parks Service, after meeting with members of Dr. King's family, has agreed to correct the "drum major" quote.
