Changes to the MCAT Ahead

Don't panic if you have a pre-med student, but major changes to the MCAT lie ahead. They won't take affect until 2015, so this is like to affect only this year's freshmen and the students who follow. (And frankly, by the time they hit senior year, most of them will have changed majors 12 times!) But in a nutshell, they're dropping the writing portion of the exam, adding a "Psychological, Social, and Biological Foundations of Behavior" section and another on critical thinking, and adding an hour to the already loooong exam, which will make it 6 and a half hours.

Each year, the Princeton Review and USA Today have teamed up to pick the 150 "best values" in higher education, 75 public and 75 private schools that offer the best education for the lowest price, or at least, the lowest price once you factor in financial aid. Topping the lists? The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Williams College in Massachusetts. You can find the full list on both the USA Today and Princeton Review sites (or by following that link), but I'm including a taste of the stats below, together with what these schools cost before you factor in financial aid.
